In Putonghua with Chi & Eng Sub

Barber Yuen has been a hairdresser for 45 years, supporting his family with his craft while coping with his own disability. He has plans to pass his business to his mentally challenged son so he can make a living in the future, but despite years of training his son still has not been able to pick up the skill. Barber Yuen, however, remains hopeful.

Director's Note
When I first met Master Yuan in 2015, I thought it would be a story of inheriting traditional crafts and the persistence of Master Yuan's opponent holding razors for more than 40 years. Fortunately, I respected Master Yuan's will and didn't tell that story. With the in-depth understanding of these years, in 2019, the shaving shed run by Master Yuan is about to be demolished, and a 4-day rushed record has been made with permission. The Old Barber is an old father's persistence in life. He imparts his traditional craftsmanship to his son , who has anintellectual disability, hoping to ensure his son's independent life in the future. The worries about their sons' future lives, like the traditional crafts themselves, are gradually marginalized by society.
