Ever since the arrival of Christian missionaries a hundred years ago, the Miao ethnic group in Central Yunnan has converted to Christianity. The severe oppression of religion during the Cultural Revolution devastated the group. Many religious leaders perished during the Movement.
Hu Jie is a veteran independent documentary director and painter. In 1995, he started to make films. His works include Remote Mountain, Women Matchmaker, The Folk Song on the Plain and Though I Am Gone.
