The internationally renowned National Film School in Łódź is often considered the most rigorous film schools in Poland and has over the years trained many of the most well-known directors in the world. Films made by students of the school, both narrative and documentary, are frequently showcased in film festivals around the world. We have selected 14 documentaries from different eras made by students of the school and have invited several young members of this group to join us in Hong Kong to share their experience with the school.

Sławomir Fabicki

Synopsis
A camera is set up next to a public phone inside a children’s hospital and produces a record of various conversations and a portrait of the hospital’s young inhabitants.

Director's Profile
Sławomir Fabicki is a film director and screenwriter who graduated from the Łódź Film School in 2002, major in film and television directing. His works include Recovered and Men's Case.


Walk with A Guide

Maciej Cendrowski

Synopsis
A visually impaired masseur enjoys taking walks around the city and gets to know the world through the sound of his surroundings.

Director's Profile
Maciej Cendrowski was graduated from the Łódź Film School in 2015, majoring in film and television directing. His works Walk with a Guide was awarded Best Documentary in many Polish film festivals.

Martin Rath

A heavily tattooed prisoner is released and attempts to make up with his estranged family.

Eventide

Giovanni Pierangeli

Synopsis
A record of everyday activities at an elderly centre.

Director's Profile
Giovanni Pierangeli was born in Italy, 1983. Later on, he immigrated to Poland and became a film directing master student at the Łódź Film School in 2013. His works include Eventide and Test of Dead.
